INTERNSHIP (Paid) – Motion Graphic Designer 2014/2015 Season - Portland Trail Blazers (Portland, OR)

LENGTH OF INTERNSHIP:  September 2014 – June 2015 - Duration of internship is also based on performance and/or business need.
HOURS PER WEEK: Variable (Average 15-20, some weeks may exceed 20)
COMPENSATION: Oregon Min. Wage currently $9.10 per hour

PURPOSE:The internship position will work on a variety of motion graphics elements as well as video related projects.  

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in motion graphic production for broadcast, in-arena and web
  • Assist in video production (promotions and advertising)
  • Assist in pre-production for video projects
  • Assist in DVD Authoring
  • Assist television shoots as a production assistant
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Perform other duties based on interest and skill level

Qualifications/Skills/Requirements:

  • Must have strong knowledge of motion graphics
  • Must either be currently enrolled in or have earned a degree in the areas of: Design, Art Media, Radio/Television/Film, Journalism, Communications, Advertising
  • Proficient in Adobe After Effects
  • Some knowledge of Cinema 4D a plus
  • Some knowledge of Adobe Premiere a plus
  • Knowledge of broadcasting and production equipment
  • Attentive to detail and direction and have excellent organizational skills
  • Proactive problem solver
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects for multiple clients simultaneously
  • Must be open and responsive to design feedback and changes
  • Must be able to communicate status of projects effectively to department and clients
  • Must be a quick learner and enjoy a fast paced environment

Basketball Analytics Internship (paid) - Portland Trail Blazers (Portland, OR)

LENGTH OF INTERNSHIP: 2014-2015 NBA Season September - June 2015 (Duration of internship based on performance and/or business need.)

Purpose

The basketball analytics intern will work directly with the Portland Trail Blazers’ analytics team in support of the front office and coaching staff. The overall focus will be on helping develop internal software tools and maintaining current analytics infrastructure. Experience in the sports industry is not required, but applicants must be passionate about basketball.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop internal software tools for use by the front office and coaching staff
  • Collect, store, and manage statistical data
  • Help maintain existing software
  • Collaborate on team projects and work autonomously on individual work

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to work in Mac and Linux environments
  • Demonstrated programming experience
  • Experience working with relational databases (SQL)

Desired Qualifications

  • Strong web programming skills (PHP, JavaScript, AJAX, Python, Ruby)
  • Experience with version control systems (Git, Subversion, etc.)
  • Experience designing APIs and visualizations
  • Experience developing mobile applications
  • Experience with basketball metrics

PURPOSE:

The internship position is designed to allow the intern to experience a professional work environment through collaboration with the Corporate Partnership staff on a wide range of independent and group sales and marketing projects relating to Trail Blazers Corporate Partners.  This position is required to work during Trail Blazers home game. 

Learning Objectives:

The student will have the opportunity to explore, observe, and participate in a variety of departmental activities including:

  • Planning and implementation of all sponsor related retail, community, internet promotions and special events
  • Execution of all game day sponsor and suite related programs (including and not limited to in-arena promotions, hospitality events, distribution of prizes, set-up and tear down of sponsor displays).
  • Interacting with corporate partners through meetings, projects, and events
  • Managing departmental activities (eg: hospitality, event set-up, sponsor handouts)

 

Qualifications and Requirements:

Minimum Education and Qualifications:

  • Recent completion of an Undergraduate or Graduate program or currently enrolled as a Junior or above preferred
  • Other types of equivalent experience will be considered

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to prioritize assignments; manage multiple projects at a time; and pay attention to detail
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with members of the Corporate Partnerships department, as well as with vendors and other Arena and team personnel

Purpose

The Portland Trail Blazers are looking for qualified applicants to fill the position of Group Experience Intern, in the Ticket Sales department for the upcoming season. The internship position will work directly with the Trail Blazers ticket sales staff. Through this internship, the intern will learn about Ticket Sales, Sports Marketing and Event Planning as executed by the Portland Trail Blazers and the Rose Quarter.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Learning the Ticket Sales & Service function and process from start to finish

• Learning how to appropriately conduct outbound/inbound customer phone calls and to upsell group ticket programs

• Working game days/nights to help facilitate customer Fan Experiences and with sales booth needs

• Participating in department sales and retention meetings

• Learning and working within the company ticketing software for customer purchase fulfillment

• Learning and working within the company CRM system to assist with data integrity, upkeep and research

• Researching Group category ticket prospects through a variety of methods including the internet and local/regional publications

• Participate in selected brainstorming sessions for the Ticket Sales Department

• Assisting with day-to-day activities in the Ticket Sales department which may include but is not limited to assembly of mass-mailings and data entry

• Other duties that may come up based on intern qualification and interest either in the Ticket Sales or other departments

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

• Bachelor’s degree or Graduate school with high preference in the area(s) of Business and/or Sports Marketing

Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of and interest in sports is a plus, but not required

• Must be able to work flexible hours – nights and weekends

• Must be a quick learner and enjoy a fast paced environment

• High attention to detail
