Internships: Administration/General Management
Internship (paid), Human Resources - Portland Trail Blazers & Rip City Management (Portland, OR)

LENGTH OF INTERNSHIP:  May 2015 – August/September 2015 - Duration of internship based on performance and/or business need.

HOURS PER WEEK: Variable (Average 25 hours per week)

COMPENSATION: Oregon Min. Wage currently $9.25 per hour

POSITION CLOSES: April 25, 2015 (Applications will be reviewed in order received and position may be filled prior to application deadline.)

Job Summary/General Description:

This position is designed to allow the intern to experience various facets of the Human Resources Department with the Trail Blazers & Rip City Management. Interns support the Human Resources team by aiding in a variety of projects, recruitment, employee activities and maintaining various files for an organization with over 300 events a year and 1,000+ employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain various files, including employee personnel files, I-9 files; EEO data files.
  • Participate in college and recruitment job fairs.
  • Participate in preliminary job interviews.
  • Perform reference/background checks
  • Assist with HR audit of personnel and I-9 files.
  • Organize employee information packets.
  • Input various information in HR databases.
  • Miscellaneous other projects as assigned.

Job Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Pursuing or completed a bachelors degree.
  • Degree in Human Resources or related field preferred.
  • Experience working with highly confidential information.
  • Some experience working in a professional environment highly preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Must maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent computer skills and proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented.
  • Able to make independent decisions; quick learner; problem solver.
  • Demonstrate excellent follow-through.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Understanding of filing systems and business etiquette.
  • Must be able to interact with various levels of staff and the public in a friendly and effective manner.
