What is the Trail Blazers College Student Ambassador Program? The Trail Blazers College Student Ambassador Program, BlazersU, is a Part Time employment opportunity for energetic college students to join our team! Student Ambassadors are passionate about the Portland Trail Blazers and share their love for Rip City with their peers. Ambassadors are responsible for representing the Trail Blazers brand on campus and at events and will engage with fellow students and Blazers fans in order to increase brand awareness. An ideal candidate is comfortable engaging with student groups, and is excited to expand their network on campus and beyond.

What does a College Student Ambassador do? Student Ambassadors serve as an official extension of the Portland Trail Blazers at the Rose Quarter.  Nobody understands their school better than the students who eat, sleep, and study there every day. With this knowledge and access, Student Ambassadors are able to communicate marketing messages, event details and ticket sales opportunities in a language that their friends and peers connect with.

Student Ambassadors will be responsible for:

• Up to four hours of promotion per week

• Promoting the Blazers Student Pass (student-only ticket program), group ticket game nights, unique theme nights, retail specials, student surveys, special events and more

• Presenting Blazers products and messaging to on-campus student groups, living groups and Greek Houses

  • Promoting Rose Quarter concerts and events at Moda Center and Veterans Memorial Coliseum.  Conducting campus events and activities in conjunction with Trail Blazers promotions

• Reporting back to the Student Ambassador Coordinator regarding program progression

Qualifications:

• Must be a Junior or Senior actively enrolled in one of the following colleges through the end of spring term, 2017

     - Art Institute of Portland

     - Clackamas Community College

     - Concordia University

     - George Fox University

     - Lewis and Clark College

     - Linfield College

     - Mt. Hood Community College

     - Oregon State University

     - Pacific University

     - Portland Community College NOTE:  We are looking at separate Ambassadors at each unique campus

     - Portland State University

     - University of Oregon

     - University of Portland

     - Willamette University

• Strong written and verbal communication

• Excellent time-management, organization, and planning skills

• Extensive knowledge of college campus

• Connected, passionate, committed

• Excited about the Portland Trail Blazers

• Ability to self-motivate and work independently with little supervision

• Proven history in engaging with peers as a leader

• High level of ethics, values, integrity

• Involved with campus activities/organizations

• Ability to appear at quarterly in-person meetings in Portland

  • Event planning experience

Final offers of employment will be conditioned on a successful drug screening and individualized assessment of background check results after a conditional offer is made.

Internship (paid) Digital Media Intern - Portland Trail Blazers & Rip City Management (Portland, OR)

LENGTH OF INTERNSHIP: 2016-2017 NBA Season August 2016 - June 2017 (Duration of internship based on performance and/or business need.)

HOURS PER WEEK: Variable (Average 25+ hours per week)

COMPENSATION: Oregon Minimum Wage currently $9.25 per hour

POSITION CLOSES: April 30, 2016 (Applications will be reviewed in order received and position may be filled prior to application deadline.)

SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director of Digital Media, the Digital Media Intern will assist with development, maintaining and supporting trailblazers.com, rosequarter.com and all of the organizations digital and social media assets.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties and responsibilities below include the following; other duties may be assigned.

•Assist with the development, arrangement and posting of content on trailblazers.com, rosequarter.com and on other digital and social media assets.

•Assist with game-day photo galleries, social content, and any other duties assigned.

•Research ways to improve the Trail Blazers/Rose Quarter social media platforms and integration on trailblazers.com/rosequarter.com.

•Assist with the management of sponsored tabs, contests and promotions, including providing analytic reports and archiving database records.

•Track and monitor success of online initiatives using various analytic tools to produce daily, weekly and monthly reports to find areas for improvement.

•Researching potential vendors for the Trail Blazers/Rose Quarter to partner with for future social media engagements.

•Contribute to the organization’s social media strategy on all networks (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google+, Vine, Snapchat, etc.). 

•Provide game day/event assistance for the Digital Team.

•Attend home Trail Blazers games and other events (e.g. player appearances, community events, training) and cover for various forms of content.

•Coordinate with other departments to ensure digital platforms represent entire business operations.

•Align and conform digital content to the organizations strategic goals and objectives.

•Assist with other duties as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

•Bachelor’s degree preferred.

•1-2 years of experience in the digital media industry, preferably in sports.

•Able to take exceptional photos and video on mobile devices and DSLR cameras and to edit on Adobe Photoshop.

•Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint Outlook, Adobe Reader and Internet Explorer.

•Proficient in HTML, CSS, coding and other digital languages for basic/intermediate site design changes/updates.

•Familiarity with content management systems.

•Knowledge of core social media networks including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Vine, and Snapchat.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

•Able to work independently and prioritize.

•Able to work as part of a team, including project management skills. 

•Must be self-starter, detail-oriented with constant follow through.

•Exceptional project management skills.

•Able to establish working relationships with a variety of team, media and community contacts.
