Purpose

The Portland Trail Blazers are looking for qualified applicants to fill the position of Group Experience Intern, in the Ticket Sales department for the upcoming season. The internship position will work directly with the Trail Blazers ticket sales staff. Through this internship, the intern will learn about Ticket Sales, Sports Marketing and Event Planning as executed by the Portland Trail Blazers and the Rose Quarter.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Learning the Ticket Sales & Service function and process from start to finish

• Learning how to appropriately conduct outbound/inbound customer phone calls and to upsell group ticket programs

• Working game days/nights to help facilitate customer Fan Experiences and with sales booth needs

• Participating in department sales and retention meetings

• Learning and working within the company ticketing software for customer purchase fulfillment

• Learning and working within the company CRM system to assist with data integrity, upkeep and research

• Researching Group category ticket prospects through a variety of methods including the internet and local/regional publications

• Participate in selected brainstorming sessions for the Ticket Sales Department

• Assisting with day-to-day activities in the Ticket Sales department which may include but is not limited to assembly of mass-mailings and data entry

• Other duties that may come up based on intern qualification and interest either in the Ticket Sales or other departments

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

• Bachelor’s degree or Graduate school with high preference in the area(s) of Business and/or Sports Marketing

Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of and interest in sports is a plus, but not required

• Must be able to work flexible hours – nights and weekends

• Must be a quick learner and enjoy a fast paced environment

• High attention to detail

• Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively – excellent time management

• Must be able to communicate effectively and work well in a team environment

• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications

Internship (Paid) - Marketing - Portland Trail Blazers (Portland, OR)

LENGTH OF INTERNSHIP: 2014-2015 NBA Pre-Season through Regular Season, typically August – April (Duration of internship will be based on performance and/or business need.)
HOURS: Typically 20/week but are variable (Some weeks may exceed 20 hours). Some nights and weekends are required.

PURPOSE:

The internship position will work directly with the Marketing staff on a variety of promotional, media and advertising projects to gain the knowledge and experience necessary to be an asset to any marketing team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Assist with basic office organization and administrative duties including filing, invoice processing, etc.
  • Assist in the execution of promotional opportunities for the Trail Blazers and Rose Quarter events, as needed.
  • Manage media invoice reconciliation and media trade inventory.
  • Assist with execution of game day media elements including drop copy, scheduling and summary reports.
  • Assist in the management of All-Star ballot voting initiatives.
  • Help plan and execute Trail Blazers and Rose Quarter events.
  • Manage occasional promotional activities during home games and/or family shows or concerts.
  • Assist with printing and posting of signage for Trail Blazers and Rose Quarter promotions.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Portland-area College Student in Junior or Senior standing in an applicable major or significant knowledge of/interest in Marketing or Advertising.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple projects at once.
  • Attentive to detail and follows assignments through to completion.
  • Deadline-oriented.
  • Positive attitude a must-have.

Internship (Paid) - Basketball Communications 2014/2015 Season - Portland Trail Blazers (Portland, OR)

PURPOSE: Provide assistance to the Trail Blazers Sports Communications department during the 2014/2015 NBA season.

Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to):

  • Write and edit game notes
  • Assemble media packets for every home game
  • Process game day credentials and seating charts
  • Manage credential/media entrance for home games
  • Assist sports communications staff with game night responsibilities (statistics, injury reports, etc.)
  • Write press releases, media advisories, player bios and statistics
  • Participate in planning and implementing PR plans for media events
  • Assist in coordination of player/staff interviews and appearances
  • Compile daily press clippings for distribution to staff
  • Track and assess statistics and statistical trends and use that information to create content and content ideas

Qualifications and Requirements

Minimum Education and Qualifications:

  • Pursuing or completed a bachelors degree in Communications or related field.
  • At least 6 months of experience in a similar role in a school, internship or professional environment preferred.

PURPOSE: The internship position will have a specific focus on Graphic/Production Design within the Trail Blazers and Rose Quarter Marketing Department as well as the Corporate Partnership Department..

Learning Objectives: The student will have the opportunity to explore, observe, and participate in a variety of departmental activities including:

• Graphic and production print design
