College Student Ambassador - Portland Trail Blazers (Portland, OR)

What is the Trail Blazers Student Ambassador Program? The Trail Blazers Student Ambassador Program is an opportunity for energetic college students to join our team! Student Ambassadors are passionate about the Portland Trail Blazers and share their love for Rip City with their peers. Ambassadors are responsible for representing the Trail Blazers brand on campus and will engage with students in order to increase brand awareness. An ideal candidate is comfortable engaging with student groups, and is excited to expand their network on campus and beyond.

What does a Student Ambassador do? Student Ambassadors serve as an official extension of the Portland Trail Blazers. Nobody understands their school better than the students who eat, sleep, and study there every day. With this knowledge and access, Student Ambassadors are able to communicate marketing messages in a language that their friends and peers connect with.

What are the benefits of becoming a Student Ambassador? First and foremost, this is a paid internship. Beyond compensation, you will gain a unique opportunity in getting your resume off to an incredible start. You’ll also have the chance to receive Trail Blazers gear and ticket incentives.

Student Ambassadors will be responsible for:

  • Between one and three hours of promotion per week

  • Executing marketing plans

  • Promoting Blazers Student Pass (student-only ticket program), group ticket packages, unique theme nights, retail specials and more

  • Using social media as an effective marketing tool

  • Presenting Blazers products and messaging to on-campus student groups, living groups and Greek Houses

  • Reporting back to the Student Ambassador Coordinator regarding program progression

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old and actively enrolled in one of the following colleges through the end of 2015-16 Winter Term

    • Clackamas Community College

    • Concordia University (NEED MORE CANDIDATES!)

    • George Fox University

    • Mt. Hood Community College (NEED MORE CANDIDATES!)

    • Oregon State University

    • Pacific University

    • Portland Community College

    • Portland State University

    • University of Oregon

    • University of Portland

    • Willamette University

  • Strong written and verbal communication

  • Excellent time-management, organization, and planning skills

  • Extensive knowledge of college campus

  • Social media savvy

  • Connected, passionate, committed

  • Passion for the Portland Trail Blazers

  • Ability to self-motivate and work independently with little supervision

  • Proven history in engaging with peers as a leader

Just the facts:

LENGTH OF AMBASSADORSHIP: 2015-2016 Fall/Winter Terms/Semesters, generally Mid - September through Mid - March (Length of opportunity may depend on performance and/or business need)

HOURS: Average 1 - 3hours a week. 2 or more in person meetings in Portland will be required.

COMPENSATION: Oregon Min. Wage, currently $9.25 per hour

Internship (Paid) - Game Day Intern, Corporate Partnerships - Portland Trail Blazers (Portland, OR)

LENGTH OF INTERNSHIP: 2015-2016 NBA Pre-Season through Regular Season, typically mid Sept – May (Duration of internship will be based on performance and/or business need.)

HOURS: Average 25 hours a week (Some weeks may exceed 25 hours). Some nights and weekends are required. This position is required to work during Trail Blazers home games.

COMPENSATION: Oregon Min. Wage, currently $9.25 per hour

PURPOSE:
The internship position is designed to allow the intern to experience a professional work environment through collaboration with the Corporate Partnership staff on a wide range of independent, group sales and marketing projects relating to Trail Blazers Corporate Partners.

Responsibilities:

The individual will have the opportunity to explore, observe, and participate in a variety of departmental activities including:

  • Act as primary point of contact for external corporate clients regarding game activation
  • Execution of all game day sponsor and suite related activations (including and not limited to in-arena promotions, hospitality events, distribution of prizes, vehicle displays, set-up and tear down of sponsor displays).
  • Planning and implementation of all sponsor related retail, community, internet promotions and special events
  • Interacting with corporate partners through meetings, projects, and events
  • Managing departmental activities (eg: hospitality, event set-up, directional signage, sponsor handouts etc.)
  • Manage and organize Corporate Partnership department merchandise and inventory orders

Qualifications:

  • Recent completion of an Undergraduate or Graduate program or currently enrolled as a Junior or above preferred
    • Other types of equivalent experience will be considered
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to prioritize assignments; manage multiple projects at a time; and pay attention to detail
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with members of the Corporate Partnerships department, as well as with vendors and other arena and team personnel
  • High level of business acumen and professionalism
  • Work in a fast-pace environment and quick to think on their feet
  • Ability to lift 20-50 lbs.
