Internship (paid) Digital Media Intern - Portland Trail Blazers & Rip City Management (Portland, OR)

LENGTH OF INTERNSHIP: 2014-2015 NBA Season October - June 2015 (Duration of internship based on performance and/or business need.)

HOURS PER WEEK: Variable (Average 25+ hours per week)

COMPENSATION: Oregon Min. Wage currently $9.10 per hour

SUMMARY Reporting to the Director of Digital Media, the Digital Media Intern will assist with development, maintaining and supporting trailblazers.com, rosequarter.com and all of the organizations digital and social media assets. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - The duties and responsibilities below include the following; other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist with the development, arrangement and posting of content on trailblazers.com, rosequarter.com and on other digital and social media assets.
  • Assist with game-day photo galleries, social content, and any other duties assigned.
  • Research ways to improve the Trail Blazers/Rose Quarter social media platforms and integration on trailblazers.com/rosequarter.com.
  • Assist with the management of sponsored tabs, contests and promotions, including providing analytic reports and archiving database records
  • Track and monitor success of online initiatives using various analytic tools to produce daily, weekly and monthly reports to find areas for improvement.
  • Researching potential vendors for the Trail Blazers/Rose Quarter to partner with for future social media engagements
  • Contribute to the organization’s social media strategy on all networks (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google+, Vine, Snapchat, etc.)
  • Provide game day/event assistance for the Digital Team. Attend home Trail Blazers games and other events (e.g. player appearances, community events, training) and cover for various forms of content
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure digital platforms represent entire business operations.
  • Align and conform digital content to the organizations strategic goals and objectives.
  • Assist with other duties as necessary

QUALIFICATIONS - To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the following essential duties satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Able to work independently and prioritize
  • Able to work as part of a team, including project management skills
  • Must be self-starter, detail-oriented with constant follow through.
  • Exceptional project management skills
  • Able to take exceptional photos and video on mobile devices and DSLR cameras and to edit on Adobe Photoshop.
  • Able to establish working relationships with a variety of team, media and community contacts.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint Outlook, Adobe Reader and Internet Explorer
  • Proficient in HTML, CSS, coding and other digital languages for basic/intermediate site design changes/updates.
  • Familiarity with content management systems.
  • Knowledge of core social media networks including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Vine, and Snapchat.
  • Must be able to attend all Trail Blazers home games and any event assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree preferred. 1-2 years of experience in the digital media industry, preferably in sports.
